Scillonian

The Scillonian provides a reliable scheduled passenger ferry service between Penzance and Hugh Town, St Mary's. The ship was purpose built for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and launched in 1977.

Capable of carrying up to 600 passengers, the ship was refurbished and refitted in 1999 and offers comfortable reclining seats, a modern bar, excellent buffet facilities and open air deck seating. The voyage from Penzance to Hugh Town, St Mary's takes just over two and a half hours and provides excellent scenic views of the Cornish coast from Penzance and Newlyn to the Longships Lighthouse, Land's End before you sail across the Atlantic to the clear blue waters of Scilly.

Parking is available at the Isles of Scilly Car Park and will be booked by us on your behalf.

What is the baggage limit?

Checked Luggage
Two pieces of personal luggage, up to a maximum combined weight of 25 kilos per passenger, are included in the ticket price. All passenger luggage is loaded by hand into containers for the voyage, so please do not use excessively large or difficult to handle cases or bags. No single piece of luggage should exceed 20 kilos.

Hand Luggage
Hand luggage amount is unrestricted, although hard case items do need to loaded into the luggage containers and will be refused at check-in.

What time should I board?

Passengers are requested to check-in from 1 hour prior to the scheduled sailing on Penzance Quay and 45 minutes before departure on St. Mary's. At both locations you may board immediately following check-in. Please be aware that check-in for Scillonian III will be closed 15 minutes before scheduled departure time. Passengers arriving after this time may be refused and will have to rebook for a subsequent sailing if space available. There will be no refunds for passengers denied boarding through late arrival.

Do I need a passport for travel?

You do not currently need ID to travel by Scillonian.
